Sleeping With The CEO

Chapter 160: Write It Down

Originally, Emily’s plan had been to start writing her list of rules at work and finish it there.

But somehow, she had stared at her computer until it had come time for her to knock off. Not a single word written there. She had left the office without even saying goodbye to Derek, feeling as though she had failed somehow because despite being the one to come up with the need for a list in the first place, she had been struggling to write something down.

But as it turned out, the reason that Emily could not come up with anything was not because she did not have any ideas in mind. It seemed that her problem had not been a lack of what to write, but rather the fact that she was nervous, and the presence of Derek in the other room had not been helping matters at all.

The moment that she had left Haven Group Headquarters, ideas had started forming in her head. Once she had finally found a place to sit, she began to write. Not even bothered by the fact that she was writing, what was most probably the most important document in her life, while seated at a public bus stop next to a crying baby. Her first rule was something simple.

Rule number one: We do not talk about our sleeping arrangement to anyone under any circumstances. It is not something to be shared at all. Emily, finished up and stared at the words. That felt like a good enough place to start.

It had been hard enough for her to tell him about her sleeping problem, and she knew that it must have been hard for him to share with her as well. So it made sense that even though the two of them had shared with each other, it should be explicitly written out that sharing the information with other people was strictly forbidden.

Thinking on what rule number two could be, Emily tapped the pen that she was writing with against her lip, trying to get the thoughts together. To form them into something that she could write out on paper.

Thinking of something she put the pen back onto the paper and began to write.

Rule number two: Sobriety is a must

She was not just going to assume that at any point in time Derek would not try to bring in some form of alcohol. After all, it was what a lot of people did after a hard day of work. They would maybe grab a bottle of wine to unwind, or have a cold beer, or maybe some whiskey. Emily was not for that at all.

Alcohol had a tendency to leak from the pores, and the smell rarely bothered the drinker, but the person within the company of the drinker was the one who suffered the most. Emily did not want to be that person. And not only that, whenever there was alcohol or drugs, though she knew for a fact that Derek was not into any of those, but whenever intoxicants were involved. Things tended to get out of hand and people often did things that they regretted. At the end of the day Derek was her boss. They might have been going to sleep with each other to see if they solved each other’s sleeping problems. But there had to be a line of professionalism kept even if the situation was very unprofessional.
