Sleeping With The CEO

Chapter 156: Silver Lining

Emily was back at Haven Group, and for the most part she was happy about that. Working at the diner, though it had been a welcome break. Had felt as though she was wasting her talents, her brain slowly turning stagnant due to the lack of stimulation. But now she was back at Haven Group and she was firing on all cylinders. Her brain working over time as she fought to keep afloat by using her abilities while at the same time, dealing with the problems that kept coming up.

The first major problem had not been of their own making, they had simply been in the best position to benefit from it. And Emily was quite pleased with how they had handled the fall of Olaf Group. Derek had made sure that while Haven Group benefited, they were not out there with all the other companies who were openly mocking Olaf Group.

If you broke bread with somebody and celebrated with them when times were good, it was not a good look to turn on them the moment that they were down. Haven Group had never been particularly close to Olaf Group. So they had minded their own business when it came to the smear campaign.

Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the companies that used to be clamouring for the attention of Olaf Group’s CEO. The whole disaster had revealed a lot of shady stuff about Olaf. But it had also helped to show some of the real snakes in the game, and Emily had been sure to note all of them down. If they had had the audacity to kick Olaf Group. After they had been benefiting from them despite knowing the despicable things that went on behind closed doors. Then they were definitely not to be trusted under any circumstances.

That whole mess was part and parcel with being in the corporate world. Emily had gladly dealt with it. But what had really bothered her was the mess that had come from within the borders of Haven Group. A mess created by none other than Derek’s uncle.

If there was ever a person who made Emily believe that no matter the situation, violence was always the answer, it was Sebastian Haven. Throughout the emergency meeting that Derek had called to fix his mess, so that Haven Group did not suffer losses because of him. The man had not shown an ounce of remorse, as though the whole thing was at trial for him, like he was being judged for something that he had not done.

Given his general disagreeable personality, Emily should have known that he would not just take the out that she had offered him without trying to mess it up somehow. But she had been optimistic and Sebastian Haven had proven her wrong.

Emily had suggested coming out with the pictures, but making sure that all of the photos posted were nothing that could be termed as derogatory towards the woman in question. And when Derek had said that PR should be involved, both of them had believed the issue to be solved. But Sebastian, being Sebastian, had found a way to go behind both of their backs and change up a few things. Apparently, the head of PR had left Sebastian alone in the room, with some of her underlings for a whole ten seconds. And in those ten seconds, the man had somehow managed to undo all of the damage control that PR was trying to do.

He had threatened the junior members of public relations, not only getting them to change the statement that had been written out, the one that had been decided upon because it made the whole thing seem softer. Instead he had replaced it with his own words, words that had involved phrases such as whore, slut, gold-digger and manipulative witch and he had not stopped there. He had also changed all the pictures, replacing them with ones where his hands were touching the girl in inappropriate places and there was even one where she was seated on his lap, her dress pulled down around her waist with nothing covering her breasts.
