Sleeping With The CEO

Chapter 154: Fruitful Failure

With Emily finally being back at Haven Group, and the two of them having decided that they were going to give this sleeping together thing a chance. Things should have just fallen into place on their own. After all, she and Derek had overcome the biggest hurdles. But life did not work like that.

Their plan when it came to going to sleep together had been something vague. Emily had thought that they would get a hotel somewhere, preferably some place where Derek was not so well known, or if he was insistent on them going places that had more than four stars attached to their name, then she could hide her face.

Hotel staff in such areas tended to remember faces, and if she went as herself, word that the CEO of Haven Group, and his PA had been seen entering a hotel room together would be the talk of the town in a matter of minutes. Instead of focusing on the technicalities of what could go wrong, Emily, had chosen to focus on the good stuff first.

The first thing to come to mind, had been how, that Monday, something wonderful had happened to Emily. She was able to return to Haven Group after thinking she would never set foot in the building again. And the second good thing had been one that she had never dreamed would be possible...a chance for her to be able to sleep withouy nightmares.

But as her first day back at Haven group had progressed, it had soon become clear, that she would not be getting the second most important thing...sleep... any time soon.

Instead what happened was that life interfered. They had almost made it to the end of Emily’s first day back when it happened. Emily was in Derek’s office giving him her report for the day when he got the call. He answered, not really paying attention. His eyes fixated on the document that she had just given him. But a few seconds into the phone call, he looked from the paper to her, his eyes wide. "Come again," He said.

And whoever was on the other end must have repeated themselves because Derek’s eyes widened even further. He listened for a few more minutes, nodding along, not interrupting, clearly interested in fully understanding whatever it was that was being said on the other end of the line. When the call finally ended, he put the phone down, and shifted all of his focus to her.

"You are not going to believe this," He said.

"What?" Emily asked.
