Chapter 87: Truth or Not
The beginning of her third week as part of the unemployed population had Emily regretting quite a bit. She did not regret that she had quit, that was something that she had really needed to do.
What she did regret though, was the fact that she had not really thought things through. With work no longer guiding how her day went, Emily was lost. And as much as she was trying to hide it, she was scared that at some point, her mom would know. And her realizing that, would most probably lead to her learning off all the big lies that Emily had been telling. The oldest one being that her sleeping problems were cured, and the most recent one being that she still had a job.
It was a lot of stress, a lot of pressure.
And as usual, Emily did what she always did whenever she was feeling overwhelmed or lost...she embroidered.
In the past when she had still had a job to go to, Emily’s embroidering had been restricted to the hours after sunset. But now, she no longer had that barrier, and that was a problem.
"If you stir that tea and longer, you will separate the water from the sugar, and the milk," Her mom’s gentle teasing brought her out of her thoughts and Emily stilled her hand. Looking up at her mom, as she raised her mug and took a healthy sip of her tea. From her mom’s side, the rich aroma of coffee was pretty strong.
"At least I might be able to separate everything, your coffee could be mistaken for tar," Emily teased back. Putting her mug down, she picked up a slice of toast with one hand and took a small bite.
"What are your plans for the day? Missing the working world yet?" Her mom asked and Emily shrugged, taking another drink to hide how much the last part of her mom’s speech had affected her.
"Nothing much, I plan to just catch up on some series and laze about. You know, just being wild and dancing on my own," She said, not mentioning anything work related.
