Sleeping With The CEO

Chapter 67: Can’t Sleep With You Again

At any given point in time, there was a person throwing something away. Often times, it was something useful. If not for them, then for someone else. That was the way it often was all around the world, especially when it came to things like fabrics and clothing materials.

In Emily’s case, it was all of the bed apparel that she had ordered on line. Not only did she not like the colours, the bedding had also disappointed her because she had not been able to obtain the sleep she needed when using them.

So to her, they were not only useless, they also brought forth a negative rush of emotions when she saw them. There was just no way that she would be keeling them. But they were practically brand new, and to someone out there, just having them would be a miracle.

So rather than tearing them apart with her bare hands and then setting them alight to show her displeasure, Emily had controlled herself. After she had finished crying over yet another failed attempt at sleep, she had gotten up and stripped the bed. Taking off all the new material and storing it away in a plastic bag.

At first she had wondered how exactly she was going to dispose of them. But the answer had come soon enough. Once in a while, when she had clothes get too old or she no longer felt good wearing them, she put them in a donation box for the needy. So after a quick trip to the laundromat where she had made sure that everything was as clean as it was going to get, Emily had placed the bed covers and pillows into the nearest donation box. The embroidery pieces that she had done also joining them.

With the apartment empty, thanks to her mother being away, Emily had seen no reason to rush back home. Instead she had taken herself on a mini date.

At first she had just walked around aimlessly, but then she had come across a duo of street musicians by chance, and rather than keep walking, Emily had stayed.

The young man was playing the violin like a man possessed his whole body moving along with the music. Just one look and Emily knew he was not really aware of the crowd. He barely even seemed to be aware of his own body. For him it was all about the music, and only the music. When he dragged the bow over the strings of the violin, he dragged out a flawless note, and it merged beautifully with the keys that his partner was pressing on the piano. Like him, she too was in a world of her own, standing when most of the piano players Emily had ever watched were sitting down. As she pressed the black and white keys, she could not seem to stop moving. She shifted her weight from foot to foot, her shoulders moving with the beat that she and her partner were creating. Her hair going this way and that. And as their music reached its climax, they only had eyes for each other. Unaware of the people dancing all around them, captured in their magic. When the final note died away, Emily found herself clapping wildly. She ended up putting the majority of the bills she had into the violin case.

Talent like that needed to be rewarded. She stayed for one more performance before she decided that it was time for her to leave. Her mood lifted, she bought herself a hotdog and dug into it as she walked.
