Chapter 42: Giant Octopus
’Slash! Slash!’
A thick, black liquid sprayed out as Shaan successfully slashed through the remaining tentacles. Well, he was fairly certain he’d managed to cut down all of them, and there was no way the huge tentacles would be able to attack them again.
"Nalira, I think we’ve finally—"
"Shaan, look at that!"
Shaan froze as he saw the creature finally reveal itself. It looked like an octopus at first glance, but it was twice as big as a normal octopus. Its eyes were a fiery red color, and its body was a deep black, which must have been used to trick its prey. However, that’s not what made Shaan even more astonished was the octopus’s tentacles, which miraculously returned in one piece.

"W-what is going on?" A look of panic crossed Shaan’s face. " Bu-But, I have already cut off all the tentacles."
"Dark core. I... I’m sure it must be because this creature consumed the dark core that was inside the body of another creature of darkness," Nalira explained as she cut down the tentacles. "The Dark Core itself does have a regenerating effect for creatures of darkness."
’Damn it. I didn’t know about that at all.’
"The only way to defeat this creature is to find the core of the creature of darkness itself and destroy it." Nalira pointed her hand forward. "There... most creatures of darkness have their core located at the head."
"Alright, I see." Shaan nodded his head. "B-but how can we attack it? This octopus’s tentacles keep attacking us, and we can’t touch it at all."
