Chapter 451 - 396: Not Giving, But Taking
Anos’s eyes were terrifyingly cold.
She had no emotions, and at that moment, she couldn’t even feel the anger she was supposed to feel.
The Empress stood, completely still.
Mira looked at Anos.
That familiar yet unfamiliar face, which six years ago still smiled genuinely from the heart.
Back then, Mira had saved Anos during a perilous time, and among thousands of places in the world, it happened to be right next to Anos.
At that time, Mira was just a child, didn’t understand anything, didn’t know how complex mortal emotions could be. And Anos, full of heroic spirit, led Mira through the world’s various facets. Mira had feelings but didn’t know how to express them, and instead, abandoned Anos at her most vulnerable.
Mira should have realized that beneath that calm voice were clumsy attempts to probe; but as the daughter of the Love God, she was uncertain how to proceed.
Anos stood silently, rigidly, on the pale long steps, cold and stiff. The starry sky above, which was about to obey her command, was so silent. She had set out on a road with no return and no end.
Anos was devoid of any emotions—joy, anger, sorrow, or pleasure. Even anger or regret were beyond her reach. No tears flowed from her eyes; she was like a shadow dancing behind a curtain. People marveled and speculated about the fascinating dancer, about the great and elevated status she might achieve one day. But when all illusions were cut off and the curtain was drawn back at this moment, it revealed a lonely and useless puppet.
Anos stood motionless, her lips trembling, but she couldn’t say anything.
