Only God

Mira stood on a cloud. She had thought that clouds, being so ethereal, would be unstable, but as soon as she jumped onto it, she found it not only stable but also quite elastic, like a mattress made of several layers of goose feathers.

Lian Xidi watched Mira hop around on the cloud-made steps, a gentle smile appearing on her face.

Mira jumped around for a while before pausing as she heard her mother’s urging.

"Hurry, go up."

Lian Xidi said so.

Mira lifted her face, her gaze extending upwards along the long staircase. She gazed at the wide-open Heavenly Gate, thinking of stepping through it, and she felt joy beyond measure.

All along, Mira had been curious about that distant radiance. Described by her mother, Heaven was portrayed as a place that had everything. At its deepest center stood God’s immortal throne, where the great Father of all divinities sat, His radiance shining to every corner of the world.

Mira followed Lian Xidi, step by step, ascending the seemingly endless staircase. The distance to Heaven’s Gate appeared as if it never shortened.

After a long while, Mira finally reached the gate. She saw her mother take a deep breath and tighten her grip on her hands.

Lian Xidi was somewhat uneasy.
