Only God

Chapter 54 - 50: The Succession of King Yarlessto

Yarlessto found his father’s corpse on the third day.

The son of the Prophet destined to take over the entire Logos Kingdom saw his father’s face, how serene it was, as Yarlessto carried his father’s body down from the summit of the high mountain, weeping as he went.

Al, the Prophet of the Logos people, was ultimately buried at an altar on the mountainside.

To honor him, upon Yarlessto’s command, people shattered the Dragon Bone that could grant Eternal Life.

On the day of the Prophet’s burial, countless people gathered on the mountain, standing from the middle of the slope to the foot of the mountain, mourning the world’s first Prophet. The Logos people had no written language yet to record this scene and their thoughts with a mournful and beautiful prose.

Therefore, the Priests who survived from the Pattern Garden set out to paint a mural for Al. Craftsmen carved a wall out of the mountain using sturdy bones, people carried stones and cleared the surroundings, and children picked wildflowers and berries.

The entire Kingdom worked together, detailing Al’s life on the mural, from being endowed with speech, to ascending in pursuit of answers, to receiving enlightenment, establishing the Pattern Garden, and finally, that last arduous journey.

Amid the bewildering blizzards,

A mural was completed, and an era ended.

Yarlessto and Dertulian forgot their mutual enmity in this mourning, the two children wept in front of the mural for a long time, until dusk fell and their tears could not be wiped clean.

Seven days later, the Prophet’s eldest son took the Logos throne and ascended the King’s Throne.
