Chapter 39 - 36: Children Now and in the Future
The Unicorn Whale swam toward the seafloor.
Its unicorn horn emitted a faint blue light, swimming deeper into the ocean. The horn continuously exerted a power that controlled the seawater, slowly parting the water beneath its belly and in front of it, while the water behind naturally sank, propelling the Unicorn Whale forward rapidly.
While swimming towards the location from which its companions were emitting soundwaves, it made a similar sound. The whale exhaled air from its lungs into the "phonation labia." Once the air entered this passage, the membrane closed, and the airflow vibrated as it passed through, creating sounds. These sounds were rhythmic, divided into paragraphs, each perfectly repeatable, together forming a complex whale song.
Al and Yarlessto sat dejectedly on the canoe, not knowing where the Unicorn Whale was headed; they could only helplessly accept its arrangements.
Yarlessto, feeling both desperate and annoyed, cradled his head as the canoe floated on the seawater in the esophagus.
Prophet Al raised his head, faced upward, then closed his eyes, bringing his hands together in prayer.
"God,
look at all we have endured,
can You embrace us?
Embrace our suffering and despair in this world."
Al’s voice was so low, only he could hear it.
