Chapter 33: Aderyn
The large bird’s talons stretched forward, closing in on Adam as he plummeted toward the ground. The air around him roared, his torn wing leaving a trail of blood rising to the air as he proceeded to fall downwards. His body was shutting down, pain surging through every nerve, but his mind refused to give in
He was pissed.
Gritting his teeth, Adam forced his barely functioning left hand forward, the same one that was now missing three fingers.
He had no time to hesitate... No time to think... He needed to act now. There was only one defensive spell he truly mastered, and by all accounts, it was a damn good one.
Using the Spirit Language, he began coding his spell into existence. Magic circles began to take form as a result, commanding the very Astrum Attribute to bend to his will.
Soon the spell takes root, and their purpose is realized after the proper command is woven into existence.
Magic circles flared into reality, appearing in front of and behind him as a result.
The complex ruins in the circles pulsed with power as he manipulated the air itself with the spell. The space around him thickened, the air behind him morphing into something more akin to sticky rubber, catching his descent and slowing him down.
Meanwhile, the air in front of him solidified, layer upon layer of compressed force forming an invisible wall harder than reinforced iron, solidifying the air in front of him to form an air wall.
The faceless bird, moving too fast to react, slammed into the unseen barricade.
A sickening crack echoed through the air as the monstrous bird’s body contorted from the impact. Blood splattered against the unseen wall, staining the hardened invisible air wall, giving it the illusion of blood staining the space in front of him.
