Chapter 181: Your face?

Rhea shrugged, carrying Lila to the Zephyr-X9, its black frame glinting, the engine humming as she opened the back door, laying Lila across the leather seats, the scent of dust and sweat mingling with the car’s oil tang.

"Kael’ll understand," she said, her voice calm, closing the door, her mask glinting under the fading light. "Lila’s more important than those wind freaks, for him atleast."

Freya sighed, her cape brushing the ground, her mask’s blue sheen catching the turbines’ shadows, her irritation lingering but softening.

"Whatever. Let’s get her back." She slid into the driver’s seat, the Zephyr’s engine roaring, the tires crunching gravel as they left the wind farm.

Kael stood outside Lila’s room, the Haven’s creaky floors groaning under his boots, the faint clank of weights echoing from the training house where Freya and Rhea were venting their mission frustrations in the gym.

He dialed Clara, his voice tense but steady.

"Clara, it’s Lila. She’s unconscious. Need you here, now."

Within minutes, Clara arrived, her white hair tied in a loose bun, her medical bag slung over her shoulder, the scent of antiseptic trailing her.

She brushed past Kael, her lab coat swishing, and entered Lila’s room, the dim light casting shadows on the bare walls, Lila’s black curls sprawled across the pillow, her breathing shallow, her broken glasses resting on the bedside table, her gown pooling over the bed’s edge.

Clara knelt beside Lila, checking her pulse, her stethoscope glinting, the room’s silence broken by the soft tick of a clock.
