The rundown house reeked of dust and mildew, its boarded windows trapping the morning’s gray light, casting jagged shadows across the bare floor.
Freya’s blue eyes burned with fury, her body coiled like a spring as she charged toward the tied-up woman, her fist raised, ready to strike.
The black-haired woman, naked and gagged, her face bruised but defiant, strained against the ropes, her dark eyes widening with panic as Freya closed in.
Kael moved fast, grabbing Freya’s arm and pinning her against the peeling wall, his strength firm but controlled, his chest pressing against her back.
"Leave me, Kael! I’ll kill that bitch!" Freya yelled, her voice raw and loud, her muscles flexing as she fought to break free, her hair whipping across her face.
The bound woman’s muffled grunts grew frantic, her body wiggling desperately, the ropes biting into her skin.
Her eyes flicked to Freya, recognition sparking fear—she knew what Freya was capable of and the anger she carried because of her betrayal.
She tried to shift, her muscles tensing as if to summon her bear form, but the collar around her neck hummed faintly, its tech suppressing her powers, leaving her trapped in her human skin.
Still, she thrashed, driven by the faint hope of escape, knowing Freya’s rage could end her right here and now.
"Freya! Freya! Calm down." Kael gripped her tighter and firm. Then he leaned in.
