Rhea and Kael exchanged a glance, and he caught the unspoken question in her eyes:
What kind of black magic did you pull on her?
Kael’s smile was awkward, deflecting, as he sat beside Freya, Rhea taking the chair opposite.
The air felt thick, charged with unspoken rivalries.Kael broke the silence, forcing cheer.
"Freya made dinner. Smells amazing, right?"Rhea’s eyes scanned the dishes, her smirk sharp. "So, Ice Queen, which ones did you poison? Gotta know what to avoid."
Freya’s smile was warm, unfazed, but her words cut back. "Poison’s too weak for pests like you Rhea. I’d need pesticides to get rid of you."
Kael shifted, the awkwardness palpable, like static before a storm. "So, Rhea, how was your day?" he asked, desperate to steer the conversation.
Rhea leaned back, her amber eyes glinting with pride.
"Funny thing happened today. Took on Crocky’s brother—Drocky who came to avenge his brother. Tough bastard. Lured us in after killing some kids, set a trap. Hairy Girl sniffed it out, Spandex Guy tackled him with Lizard Man, and I landed the killing blow. Stubborn fucker, tougher than Crocky."
She paused, her smirk turning wicked as she looked at Freya.
"Want some crocodile meat, Freya? You two are equally disgusting—bet you’d love it."Freya’s smile didn’t waver.
