Live-in Son-in-law

Chapter 17 Everything is a Conspiracy

Qin Wan’er looked at He Ping with a fierce and covetous gaze, involuntarily shrinking back in fear.

Among those present, the only one she was familiar with was Zhang Xiaoyou. The others were hardly acquaintances, just people she had seen occasionally and not even on nodding terms. She had never wronged these people before, so she didn’t understand why they treated her this way.

Qin Wan’er was indeed sensible, but after all, she was not deeply experienced in the world. She didn’t understand that being poor was a mistake in itself. Identity, status, family background—all these clearly divided people into different classes. She was destined not to become friends with these people, no matter how kind she was. In the eyes of these people, kindness was probably the least valuable thing.

"Young Master He, what are you doing? You’re scaring Wan’er." Zhang Xiaoyou was a very pretty girl, but her beauty wasn’t innate; most parts of her face had been surgically altered, making her an artificial beauty.

He Ping sneered, "Xiaoyou, it’s not that I won’t give you face; it’s that she doesn’t give me face."

"We are all classmates, and today is my birthday, so let’s all be happy. Can I take this drink for Wan’er?" Zhang Xiaoyou said with a smile.

"How can someone take a drink for someone else? It’s just a drink. Does she think she’s such a big deal?"

"Exactly, she’s just a dog relying on others yet still expecting Xiaoyou to drink for her?"

"Xiaoyou, really, how can you be friends with this kind of person? It lowers our class."

Zhang Xiaoyou, a little angry, said, "Enough, everyone, stop bullying Wan’er."
