Xu Chaomu raised her head, realizing she had lost her composure. She wiped away her tears and looked towards Shen Shihan’s subordinate.
"Mrs. Shen, there are some things that I think... you have the right to know," said Shen Shihan’s subordinate, bowing his head respectfully.
"What is it?" Xu Chaomu was curious.
She had never had any interactions with Shen Shihan’s subordinates. What could they possibly want to tell her?
"The third young master has never thought of using you," the subordinate said.
Xu Chaomu’s heart stirred, and she calmly said, "Explain it more clearly."
"It was Zhou Peitian who acted on his own seven years ago, taking you and Miss Bai Man away. I’ve always been aware of that."
"But he agreed to it, didn’t he?" Xu Chaomu’s face was expressionless. In fact, she didn’t want to bring up that incident from seven years ago at all. Mentioning it was like ripping open her old wounds.
"The third young master’s mistake was not stopping Zhou Peitian. He has always felt very guilty about that, always telling me that he will make it up to you if he gets the chance," the subordinate continued. "It was only years later that he found out you were still alive, and in Paris."
"Let bygones be bygones," said Xu Chaomu, still unwilling to reminisce about the past.
