Chapter 63: You are the Triad Society leader
The man, wearing a mask that obscured his expression, didn’t continue drinking. Instead, he poured Xu Si a glass of brownish-red wine, his tone seeming somewhat cool.
"Ha, yes. To buy you clothes, I was even mistaken for a woman and harassed."
Xu Si was slightly surprised, a half-smile playing on her lips. "Are there really people so blind?"
She actually wanted to ask how he was harassed, but it felt inappropriate, as if she’d be gloating.
"There are many blind people in this world."
The man’s hand was loosely supporting the side of his head near his ear. Though his voice held a smile, it lacked any genuine emotion.
"So, I brought him back to the Underground City. Trash like him should fit in perfectly here."
"Oh." Xu Si raised an eyebrow, unsure what to say. "How pitiful for him."
"You think he’s pitiful?" His voice was muffled, but his articulation was clear. "Then indeed, perhaps those in similar situations can better understand each other. He’s as pitiful as you were yesterday. Here, you’re both nobodies."
Xu Si remained silent.
She took a deep breath, calmly sipped her wine to suppress her rising irritation, and then said with a smile, "Not pitiful at all. He got what he deserved. You’re not pitiful either. I’m the one who’s truly in a wretched state."
