Mr. Lu stared at her blankly, his eyes reddening involuntarily.
He should have known all along; his foster mother never loved him, not even a little bit. He had always thought he, as a grown man, had stopped caring long ago, but now, hearing these words, his heart still ached.
But perhaps it was for the best that their ties were severed. From now on, they had no relationship, and she would no longer stick around the house, nor would his wife constantly lash out at him anymore.
