Chapter 1899 - 1917: Red Directive (Part 2)
Once she settles down abroad, she will exact her revenge for today’s insult.
They’ve hunted her down like a stray dog, but one day, she’ll make Yin Nan, Ji Yuanjie, the Huo Family, and Su Hai pay the price.
The sky was getting darker, and the sound of insects chirping filled the forest, mixed with the rustling of footsteps on leaves. Both of them tensed up, bodies in defensive stances, leaning against the car, and drew their pistols towards the direction of the sound.
The rustling footsteps drew closer, and four tall men emerged from the dark forest, appearing to be in their thirties, wearing black hooded sweatshirts with the hoods up, giving off an intimidating and hostile vibe.
Ding Meichen did not let her guard down; instead, she asked coldly, "Who are you?"
The four men stepped aside, and a tall, burly man emerged from behind them. Upon seeing Ding Meichen, the man pushed back the hood of his sweatshirt, revealing a rugged and sharp-featured face.
"It’s me!"
Ding Meichen recognized him; it was her contact, Monkey. He was one of the people she had the highest hopes for, and in terms of ability, he was much stronger than Pocky, who relied solely on his seniority. Monkey was different. Despite his tall and burly stature, he was as nimble as a flexible monkey, hence the codename.
The main thing was that Monkey was calm, composed, and highly skilled.
"You’re ten minutes early," Ding Meichen said warily, looking at Monkey. "I remember you always had impeccable timing."
In response to Ding Meichen’s suspicion, Monkey remained unfazed. "You told me to arrive at six, but someone else told me to be here at five-fifty, so my timing is still precise."
His words caused Ding Meichen and Ji Wan’s faces to change drastically. They quickly raised their previously lowered guns, and a tense atmosphere filled the forest. Ding Meichen and Ji Wan moved swiftly, but the four men with Monkey weren’t slow either, and being in greater numbers, Monkey didn’t even bother drawing his gun, still calmly watching Ding Meichen with his hands in his pockets.
"You dare betray me?" Ding Meichen could no longer maintain her calm composure; even her previous fantasies vanished in an instant. Never had she felt such panic and fear like now.
She was clearly aware that she was doomed.
"Betrayal?" Monkey retorted. "The real betrayer is you. Out of selfishness, you used the Special Action Department as a tool, and now you’ve dragged the entire department down with you."
The four men with Monkey all looked at Ding Meichen with hatred in their eyes.
"I didn’t!" Ding Meichen denied vehemently, "You’re the one who betrayed me, and now you’re deceptively making excuses. I’ve misjudged you."
"No," Monkey shook his head, "I am also a soldier. We soldiers never forget our oaths and responsibilities. Since joining the Special Action Department, we swore never to betray."
"Then why did you set me up?"
"Because we received a better directive than yours," Monkey said slowly and deliberately, "It’s the highest-level red directive from the Special Action Department. Everyone in the department is now after you, and all your resources and connections are severed. The contacts you’ve set up abroad should also be cleared by now."
A red directive from the Special Action Department is the highest level, able to override any order. Once issued, it must be obeyed by everyone, regarding any matter, with absolute adherence to the red directive.
No one is allowed to defy it.
