Chapter 1894 - 1912: Upheaval in the Meeting (Part 7)
"Don’t ramble on." Huo Beijiang was thinking about his wife in the hospital and wasn’t in the mood to bicker with Tu Cheng here, "Say what you need to, or I’ll leave first."
"Wait a minute!" Tu Cheng grabbed Huo Beijiang, who was about to leave, and instinctively lowered his voice, "What are you thinking? This isn’t like your usual style." They’ve known each other for quite some time, and Tu Cheng understood Huo Beijiang’s nature and could tell Bei Jiang was doing this on purpose.
Upon hearing this, Huo Beijiang took a deep drag of his cigarette and sneered, "What else could I think? Doing this is the best outcome."
Tu Cheng furrowed his brows, looking at him seriously, waiting for his next words.
Huo Beijiang flicked the ashes off his cigarette, speaking in a weathered tone, "Being suspended for a while is fine. Otherwise, there’s no place for me to get promoted. How old am I? There are plenty who’ve been grinding it out up there for decades."
Tu Cheng understood what he meant and nodded in agreement, "It’s good you see it that way, very wise."
"Then I’m off." Huo Beijiang was eager to get in the car and leave.
Tu Cheng stood there watching the car disappear in a flash, finally realizing something was off. Was this bastard just trying to slack off? Were those righteous words just said in passing?
******
"Congratulations, boss." As soon as Ning Di heard that Huo Beijiang was going to be suspended, he said, "Now you can finally take the opportunity to rest for a while."
Huo Beijiang stroked his chin, holding back a laugh.
"Exactly!" He could finally take a legitimate break and slack off, sigh! What a challenge. Ever since he started at the military academy, there were hardly any summer or winter breaks, and after graduating, he got busier and busier. As his position and rank rose, so did the responsibilities.
Originally, Huo Beijiang didn’t feel it was anything special, but now things were different; he really wanted to carve out time to be with his wife properly. To be able to offer her a stable home, instead of constantly rushing around, not even managing to make her a decent meal.
"Ning Di, do you think I should go to the cooking class to learn how to cook?" He had thought about it before; after returning from Kannaya’s reckless behavior, he was bound to be demoted, so why not to the cooking class?
He could learn more about cooking and go home to make meals for his wife.
But now, with a direct suspension, it couldn’t have aligned with his wishes more perfectly.
"Forget about the cooking class." Ning Di, with a good conscience, said, "If you go to the cooking class, how will everyone eat in the future? Who dares! Let the commander cook for them? If you’re not afraid of retribution later on and dying a horrible death, go ahead!"
Seriously though, who wouldn’t be afraid?
Impossible!
Just thinking about it made Ning Di feel terrified.
"I suggest if you want to cook, just go learn at Yuwang Mansion. Isn’t Lei Hao’s brother the owner? Just give him a heads-up." Ning Di cleverly offered advice and also shifted the responsibility to Lei Hao.
Ning Di was quite envious that Lei Hao got to go to Kannaya with the boss.
Huo Beijiang considered it for a split second, "Makes sense, Nan Fei really likes the cuisine at Yuwang Mansion." He secretly added learning to cook at Yuwang Mansion to his to-do list.
"Boss, when is Lu Jin coming back?" With the boss suspended, there were a lot of matters in the division that needed handling, and he couldn’t always stay by the boss’s side, plus everyone else was busy as well.
