Chapter 1892 - 1910: Upheaval in the Meeting (Part 5)
"Huo Beijiang, you are truly outrageous." Amidst the chaotic sounds, a particularly loud voice broke through like thunder and drowned out all others: "You are reckless, you do not deserve to be a soldier!"
"Huo Beijiang, I will send you to the military court."
This time, not only did the voices in the conference room fall silent, but even the waiting room was enveloped in a strange atmosphere. Everyone looked at one another, and finally stared at Ning Di.
If they guessed correctly, is this man from Major General Huo’s group? Many found themselves curious about what exactly Major General Huo did to provoke such a reaction from so many leaders, but as soldiers, they knew never to ask questions about things they should not.
This level of meeting was obviously top-secret, and those waiting outside had to sign a confidentiality agreement. Ning Di ignored all the stares, glanced at the time on his wrist, greeted the chief secretary, and said he would be stepping out and return around the afternoon.
The meeting lasted from morning till dusk, and even lunch was settled inside the meeting room. As it looked like dinner would be missed, the meeting room door was suddenly kicked open from the inside. Holding their military jackets and hats, people began to file out.
Some walked briskly; others walked slowly; and some stormed out in fury, steps like the wind. Evidently, the outcome of the meeting couldn’t satisfy everyone, yet Huo Beijiang, the core of the meeting, seemed unfazed, as if he hadn’t realized he was about to be promoted again!
Tu Cheng couldn’t bear seeing this infuriating demeanor any longer and slapped Huo Beijiang’s shoulder hard, almost making him stumble. Huo Beijiang reacted quickly, countered with a hold and twisted Tu Cheng’s arm behind him.
Tu Cheng furrowed his brow in pain, gritting his teeth without crying out.
"Do you know why, even though we both graduated from the military academy, you went to the naval fleet and I went to the Navy Special Forces?" Huo Beijiang sneered, "That’s the difference." He let go decisively after speaking.
Tu Cheng smoothed the wrinkles on his uniform and said impassively, "I thought it was because your skin is thicker, so you went to the Navy Special Forces!"
"Haha... you could think that way." After all, him being thick-skinned isn’t anything new.
"Come on! Let’s grab a drink." Tu Cheng forcibly dragged Huo Beijiang away; truth is, he had a lot to discuss with him. What he wanted to say most was what the hell was this guy doing today? Tu Cheng would never forget today’s meeting for his entire life.
He and Lei Hao were just bystanders, yet they were tense and nervous the whole time, not to mention Huo Beijiang in the eye of the storm. It’s not about being timid or inexperienced; if Tu Cheng were timid, he wouldn’t have this name.
If most people’s parents gave them a name that sounded ridiculous, they’d change it even if it meant getting scolded. But he’s different; he absolutely loves this name.
"My wife is still in the hospital; I need to go back and accompany her." Huo Beijiang was eager to return, without any interest in drinking with Tu Cheng.
"You’ve been suspended from duty, aren’t you afraid you won’t have time to accompany your wife?" Tu Cheng couldn’t help but mock; this bastard was simply making things worse, "You were in the meeting room earlier, why didn’t you explain?"
