Chapter 208: The Phone Call
"Hey, why are you only calling me now?" Ah Da collapsed onto the sofa at the foot of the bed, holding her phone, with Su Qingtong’s face on the screen. She was in her pajamas with green, sticky stuff smeared across her face, only her mouth and eyes visible.
At first glance, it was somewhat terrifying.
Su Qingtong sat on the floor, leaning against the sofa, stabbing a piece of fruit with her fork and stuffing it into her mouth. "I’ve been too busy filming. I’ve been working like a horse all day, from morning till night."
Ah Da said, "It means you have a significant role, and you’ll attract lots more fans when it airs."
"Forget it, it’s good enough not to get scolded." Su Qingtong put down the fork and drew up her knees to sit up straight. "Somehow the script leaked online, and now Xue Linyin’s fans are judging me around the clock. Today when I went out in costume, a hater laid in wait for me. Luckily, I have quick reflexes. I threw a bottle of water at them and dodged out of the way effortlessly."
"Perfect avoidance. I wonder if any paparazzi around caught my cool moves on camera."
Ah Da frowned with concern, "How did they even follow you offline? Are you okay?"
"I’m fine. Sister Liu called the police, and they caught him. It was just ordinary mineral water. I heard he works here in the film city, and because he adores Xue Linyin so much, he harbors resentment towards me. But he was too afraid of prison to use sulfuric acid."
"He definitely lost his job though. I can’t understand why a fan would go through all this trouble. He says he is standing up for his idol, but in the end, he is really just pleasing himself."
Ah Da said, "Maybe he thinks it’s worth it. Some people are crazy like that, treating celebrities as if they were their most important person, or even like family, wanting to defend them whenever they see injustice."
