Chapter 19: Questor-Tier Combat
Multiple attacks came simultaneously. Amoh flicked a spinning blade towards Stella, and Sarah shot it out of the air. Ogarius threw out a hand, and tendrils of darkness - dread mana made real by wizardry - flew forward to grapple Aarl. They evaporated in Nathan’s aura, but were still strong enough that Aarl was forced to defend himself from them with a thin blade enchanted to fight ethereal foes.
Nathan spared a moment of concentration to break apart the attack and attempt to disrupt Ogarius’s next teleport. He wasn’t fully successful in the face of the novel type of magic, which felt based on illusions and dreams instead of space. But when the Questor emerged from his jump, he was clutching at his head.
Regardless, that was the moment Badud made his attack. A stone pillar the size of a semi truck flew towards them at incredible speed. Amoh blasted Aarl back with an explosion of shadows and fixed Sarah with a gaze that paralyzed her in place. Stella and Khachi were already jetting away from the attack, but Sarah was paralyzed directly in its path.
Nathan moved faster than he’d ever moved before, leveraging every one of his movement abilities to jerk across the world like he’d been fired from an invisible cannon. The world seemed to slow down as he accelerated towards Sarah in a race with the giant rock. He bodily slammed into her hard enough that he probably cracked a few of her ribs. But he managed to push them both out of the path of the projectile. It flew off into the distance to crush a dozen houses.
