Chapter 227. His Tomb (2)
Caron stared quietly at the man in front of him—Rael.
"A fate that should never have existed... That's insulting to hear, you know," Caron said.
"Don't get the wrong idea," Rael replied. "I meant Cain Latorre was never meant to exist—not you."
"Care to explain that in simpler terms?" Caron asked.
"You were supposed to be born as Caron Leston from the start. Reincarnation wasn't part of the plan," Rael explained.
Caron understood the implication immediately. He asked to confirm, "So someone tampered with my soul, didn't they?"
Rael nodded slowly and replied, "That's one way to put it."
"Who did that?" Caron asked.
Rael shrugged and answered, "I can't say, because I don't know that much. But judging by the energy I feel from your body... I'd bet the World Tree intervened to set your fate back on track. Maybe you should ask it."
If Caron brought back the Glacier Crystal from the North Sea, the World Tree would be fully restored. And judging from the way Rael was speaking, it was almost certain that the World Tree had played a major role in the whole reincarnation process.
Despite being told that someone had meddled with his destiny, Caron simply shrugged and asked, "Let me guess, it was the Demon King's doing, right?"
