" Are you okay ?" Arrie couldn’t help but ask as she held Kailen’s face in her arms.
Kailen chuckled " I’m the one who should be asking you that question . I’m fine Arrie"
Individuals at the shelter stared at Kailen with reverence ,most of them giving him respectful nods. After the feat he has accomplished,it was only natural. The only reason why some of them did not approach him was because they had their own injuries to worry about.
A woman approached him with tears and snot on her face, her son training behind her.
" Sir, thank you. Thank you so much for avenging my husband . Those savages killed him . However you made sure not even a single one of them escaped. Thank you sir. I am certain that my husband can now rest peacefully in the afterlife"
The woman held Kailen’s hands reverentially, thanking him.
She almost fell down at his feet.
However Kailen quickly held her by the arm. This woman was being genuinely thankful to him.
" Ma’am, to be honest, I only acted purely out of self interest and ambition because I also lost family to these diabolic beasts in the past. I won’t act like a hypocrite and accept your genuine thanks. Im sorry but I didn’t do it for those who lost their lives on the battlefield today"
However , the woman’s smile grew more wider, her eyes narrowing " Young man, you have no idea how much hope you have given to everyone in the federation .We have been living for a while in constant fear for these diabolic beasts. However what we saw you demonstrate today changed everything. Whether or not what you did was out of personal interest or not does not matter . At the end of the day, you saved lives, and sealed the fate of perpetrators of millions of injured, scarred and lost lives. You have also helped humanity to realize that we are not so weak against the threats of these monsters . At the end of the day, whether or not you are willing to admit it, you’ve become a symbol.
