Chapter 126: CH 126: How impatient I am (WMR4)
Dave stood before the large iron gate of the establishment, then without speaking, he commanded the two Berad beasts beside him to take down the gate.
Instantly the two beasts had lurched forward with a ground-shaking roar. They charged straight at the fortress gate, their massive claws digging trenches into the earth as they built momentum.
In one devastating blow, the gate gave way. The black steel structure buckled under the impact, groaning like a dying beast before collapsing in a cloud of dust and debris. Shards of metal scattered across the ground, and the thunderous sound of its fall echoed like a drumbeat of war.
Following after, the beasts let out a deafening roar of success before making their way back to Dave’s side.
Gasps and shouts erupted from within the compound. All eyes turned toward the wreckage. Then from behind the dust and debris, a lone figure emerged atop a monstrous, bear-like beast. The creature moved with the weight of a living tank, each step slow and deliberate, shaking the earth beneath it.
Dave sat tall on the Berad’s back, his form appearing like a warlord who had just come from a conquering war. His face was calm, too calm. And behind him, more beasts followed. Fanged, clawed, and horned, they moved in formation, each one tamed and obedient, but visibly bristling with primal power.
The scene struck the gathered crowd like a thunderbolt. There were at least a hundred people in the yard, spread out in tight clusters. Many of them were armed with swords and weapons, and nearly all of them had beasts of their own; one or two at their side, snarling low in response to the new arrivals.
From somewhere in the crowd, a voice rose, defiant, but tinged with unease.
"Who the hell is this?" the man barked. "How dare you barge into our stronghold like this?"
