Chapter 98 - 66: Long-Distance Assassination
Most people in the Myriad Beast Garden Hunting Group’s camp were already asleep.
Only two mutants on night duty were awake, each sitting in a dim corner on alert, occasionally getting up to check on the war pets outside the camp.
There were three Red-eyed Mountain Sculptures in the trees and a group of Thousand-peak Retrievers on the ground, one with night vision, one with keen smell, and the powerful-hearing Wind-controlling Eagle. With these three kinds of war pets on alert together, they were not at all worried about enemies sneaking into the camp, so they were all quite relaxed.
Suddenly, thunder rumbled in the sky.
The two mutants had just looked up when three bolts of lightning instantly struck the camp, creating Explosive sounds.
Bang! Bang! Pop!
Three noises overlapped, followed by a scream.
The entire camp immediately erupted as if a pot had boiled over.
Everyone was startled awake and ran out of their tents, the war pets outside the camp let out uneasy howls, the hawks and blood ravens took flight, screeching frantically in the sky.
Pei Hong had just fallen asleep shortly before and had opened his eyes at the attack, but it was too late to react.
