After lunch, Tingting considerately helped her dad clean up.
"You put that down, go rest in your room for a bit so you’ll have energy for class this afternoon."
Hearing this, Tingting didn’t insist further; she put down the dishes and asked, "Dad, what time will you be back tonight?"
"I’m not sure, but definitely before eight."
Although they stop taking orders before six o’clock, that only applies to individuals; some businesses only start to prepare their goods for delivery when it’s almost time to close.
These big clients naturally get different treatment—they must receive their goods and ship them out via courier on the same day, so this usually runs quite late.
"Okay, I’m going back to my room." Tingting turned and walked towards her room.
Zhu Guangfa scratched his head—his daughter was growing up and their conversations were getting fewer. He faintly felt that there was something wrong between them but couldn’t pinpoint the problem.
After washing the dishes, Zhu Guangfa came out of the kitchen, approached the bedroom door, reached out to knock but hesitated. Concerned about disturbing his daughter’s rest, he put down his hand.
He went to the bathroom, dampened a towel slightly to hastily wipe his face and neck, then brewed a big cup of coarse leaf tea in his large mug and set it aside to cool; the weather was too hot, he’d take it with him to drink at work in the afternoon.
Resting on the sofa, he, tired from a day’s work, felt as if he were sitting on a cloud, light and airy, and soon began to snore loudly.
