Chapter 130: Busy Like Super Man
Lily turned to face him fully, her eyes scanning his face, desperate for answers to the unspoken questions swirling in her mind. Her voice trembled as she finally spoke, "Why do you sound like you’re going to leave me?"
James offered her a gentle smile, his expression calm and reassuring. Leaning forward, he pressed a soft kiss to her lips before speaking in a soothing tone, "Of course not, Lily. I’m not leaving. I just wanted to remind you that no matter what happens, I’ll always love you."
But Lily pouted, her golden eyes shimmering with unease. "I don’t like the way you said it," she murmured. "It makes me feel like... like you might leave one day."
James let out a low chuckle, his voice warm and steady. "I won’t, Lily. Of course, I won’t."
Lily hesitated for a moment, then spoke softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "Then... kiss me."
A smile curved his lips as he replied, "Of course, why wouldn’t I? My lovely wife."
With that, he leaned in and captured her lips in a deep, lingering kiss, pouring all his love and reassurance into the moment. For a while, nothing else existed but the two of them—lost in the warmth of their connection. When the kiss finally broke, Lily rested her forehead against his, still unsure but comforted by his presence.
"I don’t want to lose you," she whispered.
"You won’t," James promised softly, his arms tightening around her. "Not ever."
The next day, Mira, little Zami, and Zamian sat together in the car. Little Zami’s curious mind sprang into action as she began asking an endless stream of questions. Zamian, ever the patient father, answered each one happily, his deep laughter occasionally echoing through the vehicle. Despite the numerous questions, Zamian never seemed irritated. Instead, he seemed genuinely engaged, savoring every word his daughter spoke.
"So, Daddy, will I have to go to my new school every day?" Little Zami’s curious voice rang out in the car, her tone bright and filled with anticipation.
