Forbiddenly Bound To  You

Chapter 119: Teach You A Lesson

Did he just use career terms to talk to her? Mira’s cheeks deepened with a blush as she shifted her gaze anywhere but his face, her earlier boldness dissolving. Her eyes landed on his neck, where she watched the subtle movement of his Adam’s apple as he swallowed. Something about his neck and the sight of his Adam’s apple intrigued her, sparking a curiosity she hadn’t felt before. But then something else caught her attention—the necklace. He was still wearing it.

Mira froze as her gaze locked on the Senerp necklace, still hanging around his neck. The significance of that single item hit her harder than she’d expected. Her heart ached, seeing that he hadn’t taken it off—he still wore it.

Without thinking, she lifted her hand to touch it, her fingers brushing the delicate chain. She barely noticed that she was only in pajama pants, her upper body bare in the soft light.

"The necklace... you still have it," she whispered, her voice barely audible. The intense look in Zamian’s eyes softened for just a moment as he noticed the moisture gathering in hers, even as his hands had been preparing to caress her skin.

Before he could react, she leaned forward and wrapped her arms tightly around him, her bare chest pressing against his warmth. The contact took him off guard, and for a moment, he found it hard to think clearly. How was it possible that her simple touch and gentle embrace could make his mind spin?

She pulled back slightly, her voice soft and hesitant. "I thought you had taken it off... but you didn’t." Her voice trembled, and the memory of her leaving him, facing everything alone, returned. If she had known what she knew now, she would have stayed. She would have confronted her fears and worked things through with him, rather than fleeing.

Gently, Zamian lifted his hand, using his thumb to wipe away the tear that had slipped down her cheek. "Shh, don’t cry, my sweet wife," he murmured, his tone tender and reassuring.

Mira nodded, exhaling softly as the weight on her heart lifted slightly. All that mattered now was that he was here, and she was determined to make things right, no matter how long it took. "I love you, Zamian. I love you so much..." Her words faded as Zamian leaned in, capturing her lips in a soft, unhurried kiss. The gentle pace of it felt like a promise, as if he were telling her that everything would be okay, no matter what challenges lay ahead.

As they pulled apart, Zamian held her gaze. "I told you I had a surprise for you... that day at our daughter’s baby shower." A shadow crossed his face as he remembered how Mira had left before he could show it to her.
