Chapter 57: Manga

In the middle of the night, inside a dimly lit office, Zamian stared intently at the selfie photo that Mira had taken of them. The room was silent, save for the occasional hum of the office equipment. John stood in front of Zamian, struggling to maintain his professional demeanor despite his slightly doubtful expression. His boss, clad in bunny-printed pajamas, was a sight so unexpected that John doubted James would ever believe it. The contrast between Zamian’s usual austere appearance and his current attire was almost surreal. John, who had been abruptly awakened by the word ’emergency,’ found himself in a state of confusion. He was now faced with an odd question that seemed out of place.

"What is a manga?" Zamian broke the silence, his gaze still fixed on the photo of himself and Mira. His tone was curious, yet detached, as though he was trying to comprehend something beyond the ordinary.

John cleared his throat, momentarily taken aback by the question. "Uh, manga is like a comic story—a picture story, really," he explained, trying to provide a clear definition while grappling with the strange turn of events.

Zamian’s eyes remained locked on the photo, absorbing John’s explanation. "Then if that’s what she wants, I can be her manga."

John’s eyes widened in disbelief. His boss had just suggested that he could be the equivalent of a manga for someone—a notion that seemed both baffling and amusing. The faintest hint of a smile appeared on Zamian’s face, though it was barely perceptible and almost out of character.

John stood there, bewildered, trying to process the unusual request. The situation had taken a turn that was far more complex—and curious—than he had initially thought. "Okay, now who the hell is the boss’s wife?" he wondered silently, realizing that the dynamic between Zamian and Mira was likely more intricate than he had anticipated.

Mira woke up to the bright sunlight streaming through the window, feeling a gentle warmth on her face. As she stretched, a smile curved on her lips. There was something different about today, though she couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was. The absence of Zamian beside her was unusual, but she shrugged off the feeling and got out of bed. She headed to the bathroom to freshen up, her mind racing with thoughts of the day ahead.

After a refreshing shower she dressed up as she packed her into a sleek ponytail, she made her way to the dining room where Zamian was already seated.
