Chapter 618: The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing
"This little white rabbit really goes for the throat when provoked, huh? Just a few words in and she has this attendant so flustered they don’t even know what to say, just pointing at the girl and stammering, ’you, you, you...’ Looks like she hit the nail on the head."
"Oh, so my spiel left you speechless, huh? Can’t find the words to respond because there’s no rebuttal, right? Everything I’m saying is just plain truth. You might as well admit defeat, go back and tell your manager you’re quitting, no need to waste any more of this place’s valuable resources by working here, okay?"
Bai just wasn’t satisfied, feeling that she hadn’t yet caused enough heartache for the attendant, so she gives another jab that nearly drives them to rage. But no matter how hard they try, they can’t find the words to lash out, especially when they had initially felt a tinge of jealousy over this beautiful woman.
However, when they saw what the woman was wearing and realized how far below their own standard it was, their sense of superiority swelled up. They thought this type of woman was inherently like this, having no real qualities to speak of, especially being penniless, hoping to snag a rich husband. They felt such people have an intense vanity and certainly couldn’t resist their own impulses to blabber on.
Their plan was to quickly get this woman out of here; they couldn’t let her catch a wealthy husband on their watch. After all these years working here without finding a suitable spouse of their own, how could they let this pretty girl beat them to it? It would be admitting they were less than this pretty face, which was unacceptable.
So they hurled insults relentlessly, thinking this woman would be like the others, utterly deflated, unable to say a word, and slinking away in shame. Who knew she would dare to fire back, a twist the attendant hadn’t anticipated.
Now that Bai had vented her feelings, her heart felt at ease, and she reveled in the satisfaction. She thought she should have dropped the ladylike act sooner, what was there to pretend about?
She should have just let loose on the attendant from the start, letting out all the pent-up resentment. As the saying goes, "Only when you’ve cussed someone out do you feel cleansed inside." Holding back had made her feel like she was going to explode.
Feeling like she had smoke coming out of her crown chakra, it was lucky that she couldn’t hold it in anymore and just started to let it all out verbally. Seeing the attendant with a face as red as a liver was oddly amusing. Naturally overweight and unattractive, their face now was hilariously flushed.
