Chapter 497: Approaching_1
"Haha, it’s okay, baby, the server is just asking if we’re sure we want our dishes served now. You wait here for a bit; I’ll go pay the bill." The boy quickly stood up, wanting to pull the server aside, not wanting his girlfriend to hear such an embarrassing remark. It didn’t matter to him whether it was successful or not.
Now, the server had a smile on her face. Her favorite sight was a penniless man showing his embarrassment in front of the woman he loved. So, without any politeness, she spoke up loudly and clearly.
"Miss, your boyfriend here was asking me if we could make the food any cheaper. Our restaurant is high-end, not some marketplace where you can haggle. Don’t you think all our dishes are made with the finest ingredients? Can you reduce the price of such precious items?
But your boyfriend here doesn’t appreciate the value, always looking for a discount. It’s really bothersome to me. Take a good look at what your boyfriend is thinking, huh? If you can’t afford it, then just let it be; there’s no need to put on airs. It’s a normal thing."
It was a simple sentence, but loudly spoken, drawing the attention of quite a few people in the restaurant. The girl’s face instantly turned as red as a monkey’s bottom; she had never imagined her boyfriend would haggle in such a grand establishment.
Before, this had never been an issue. Could it be that something had happened? Her first thought was about her boyfriend, perhaps he was short on cash recently and that was why he was behaving like this. Still, it was embarrassing. After all, so many well-off people were watching. If someone took a photo and posted it on some social app, wouldn’t she be utterly humiliated?
The boyfriend also hadn’t expected the server to be so oblivious to the mood, to just spit out that remark without considering the customer’s feelings. So what if he couldn’t pay right away? Wasn’t he going to pay eventually? Was it so wrong to ask for a simple discount?
The server was pretty awful, actually, and at this point, the boyfriend was getting angry and quite keen on making a complaint.
Kang Yue had been watching the gaudily-dressed server, and soon noticed the commotion. She was furious upon hearing the server’s words, thinking the server might be the restaurant’s worst employee. If the business was bad, it was probably due to her, making such comments about the customers.
The two tables were very close, and just moments ago, she was curious to see what the server was up to. The boy was merely asking for a little discount.
Seeing how the boy was obviously sincere, if there had been no hope for a discount, he surely wouldn’t have persisted. But before waiting for a response from the server, the girlfriend had appeared, and the server rolled out quite a performance—Kang Yue felt she would definitely go up and rip her apart if she were in that situation.
"How can there be such a server? If such a person worked for me, I’d definitely kick them out right away. It’s just too damaging to the company’s reputation. To be able to provoke discomfort like that is simply a lack of emotional intelligence," Kang Yue commented.
