Lin Shulei was cooking while Chen Yuyan was helping out.
"Mrs. Lin, when are you and my dad planning to have a wedding?" Chen Yuyan asked.
"We’ve discussed it and decided not to have a wedding ceremony. Your father and I are not young anymore. We plan to find a time to invite relatives and close friends to gather, once in Hai City and once in my hometown Sha City. Just to let our friends and relatives know that your father and I are together is enough," Lin Shulei said.
This was what they had agreed upon. Chen Yuanxiang felt that since it was his second marriage, having a lavish wedding didn’t seem appropriate.
Lin Shulei was not a flamboyant person and disliked hassle.
The two of them decided that it would suffice to gather the close relatives and friends and announce their relationship; that was enough.
It would also be simpler and less exhausting that way.
After all, their life was their own, and a wedding ceremony is just a formality. Essentially, a wedding is mostly for others to see.
They both had a quite open-minded view on this matter.
