Mrs. Summers in S city was equally frustrated.
She was so infuriated by what Serena had said that she wanted to call her back but found she couldn’t get through to Serena’s phone at all.
Furious, she threw her phone aside, feeling as if something was congesting her chest, making it hard to breathe.
As she went downstairs, she encountered Grace, and suddenly felt a strong sense of guilt.
Grace approached her tentatively, asking, "Mom, did you really call Serena? What did she say?"
"What else could she say? She’s an ungrateful wretch who doesn’t even recognize her own mother! Absolutely abominable!" Mrs. Summers said, her chest heaving with anger.
Grace’s eyes flickered, and she slowly moved closer, patting her mother’s back gently, "Mom, don’t worry for now, maybe... Serena didn’t do it on purpose. She’s probably just still furious."
"Her furious? After she treated you like that, she still has the cheek to be mad?" Mrs. Summers scoffed, grabbing Grace’s hand, feeling a twinge of guilt, "Grace, I’m sorry for letting you down, I couldn’t help you."
"Mom, just standing up for me has already made me so happy, truly!" Grace blinked, tears instantly welling up in her eyes.
Seeing this, Mrs. Summers felt even more heartache.
