Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1764 - 1763: Two Ancestors

"Mm." An Hao nodded, "Then we should hurry back now, right? I’m going to apologize to Mom and Dad first! I shouldn’t have kept this from them for so long!"

"Alright." Qin Jian let go of An Hao, stepped down on the gas pedal, and they arrived at the front door.

As the couple got out of the car and hadn’t even entered the house, they could hear the two kids in the children’s room crying as if in a competition.

One would cry, then the other, each louder than the last.

Just hearing it made An Hao’s heart ache terribly.

She quickly stepped forward and knocked on the door. The one who opened it was the guard.

As soon as the guard saw it was An Hao and Qin Jian, the two young guards were so excited they nearly started crying themselves: "Captain, sister-in-law! You’re finally back!"

"What happened? Did something happen at home?" An Hao asked anxiously.

"Nothing major. These two little ones are practically ancestors... If you hadn’t come back, we’d have gone insane!" said the two guards. If they hadn’t experienced it firsthand, they’d never have believed how capable these two kids were at driving people crazy.

"What’s going on?" An Hao asked while taking off her coat, heading over to hold the children.

Ning Chenyang and Ning Chenguang, hearing An Hao’s voice, immediately rushed into her arms, mumbling in their childish voices, "Mom! Mom..."

After not seeing her for a few days, these two little ones seemed to have lost a lot of weight. Their cheeks were less chubby, but their big, dark, grape-like eyes were brimming with tears, blinking as if they were about to break An Hao’s heart.

"My babies! Mommy missed you so much!" An Hao’s eyes reddened as she hugged one child in her left arm and one in her right, leaning down to kiss their rosy little cheeks.

"What’s going on here?" Qin Jian looked at the guards, noticing the dark circles under their eyes that seemed like they hadn’t slept for days. "Why are you two watching the kids? Where did my parents go?"

"Reporting to the Captain! The commander went to the central government for meetings several days ago. A couple of days ago, Madam heard from Professor Yan that sister-in-law had been kidnapped and you’d gone to rescue her. She got so anxious that her blood pressure skyrocketed, and she was hospitalized. These two little ones refused to let anyone else take care of them. Since they know us better, we’ve been the ones looking after them the past few days."

"How’s my mom doing?" Qin Jian, barely out of his military uniform, quickly dressed again. "Which hospital is she at? I’ll go check on her!"

"She’s at the Military District General Hospital!"

Qin Jian nodded and turned to An Hao: "I’ll go to the hospital to see how Mom is doing."

"Go ahead! I’ll stay home and take care of the kids."

Qin Jian left, and the two kids, who were hungry, reached out their little hands and clung to An Hao’s arms.

"Sister-in-law, please feed the kids. We’ve tried everything, but they just wouldn’t eat." said Xiaoliu, the guard.

"Alright. You two get some rest first, but I might need to bother you to hold on for a bit longer before heading out—I need to understand the kids’ situation later." An Hao replied.

"Alright, then we’ll leave you to it, sister-in-law."

An Hao carried the kids upstairs, gave them some toys to play with, quickly cleaned herself up in the bathroom, and came back to feed them milk.

The past few days on the mountain, she’d been secretly expressing her milk and discarding it. Fortunately, she hadn’t dried up yet.

Still, it was probably time for these little ones to be weaned.

Once An Hao fed the kids, they, having fussed the whole day, were so tired that they fell asleep with satisfied little smiles on their faces.

An Hao gently placed blankets over them, put them into their little beds, and went downstairs. She saw the two young guards sitting properly on the couch.
