Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1754 - 1753: I’ll Wait for Your Return

"I almost thought I was going to die here," An Hao sobbed quietly.

If Qin Jian hadn’t come today, she had already decided to fight that rat to the death. No matter what, she couldn’t abandon her purity and dignity.

"Silly girl, no matter what you lose, you mustn’t easily throw away your life!" Qin Jian rubbed her hair, his heart feeling as if a blunt knife had carved out a piece.

An Hao cried for a while and then let go of Qin Jian, tilting her head up to look at him. She softly asked, "Did you come here on your own, or did you bring the troops with you?"

Qin Jian glanced at the tear-streaked face that hadn’t dried yet. He raised his warm hand to gently wipe it away and replied, "I came by myself. The troops should be trailing behind. As soon as I heard you were kidnapped, I rushed here! What’s the situation now? How many of them are left?"

"There aren’t many left now. Most of their group were caught in the county. The guy lying on the ground was killed by you. There are still two people left! By the way, I can now confirm to you that Mu Qiankun is one of the drug traffickers! Also, Lin Sheng and Mu Mian are here as well!"

"As expected..." Qin Jian said regretfully, "We analyzed it correctly after all. Such a shame that Lin Sheng is involved too!"

"However, every time someone managed to escape, Lin Sheng and Mu Mian helped. I don’t think they’re inherently bad people. Judging from the experiences I’ve had along the way, it’s quite likely they’re being coerced. This time it’s more of a hostage escape than actual drug trafficking! Qin Jian, promise me this: after this operation is over, please give Lin Sheng a chance!" An Hao pleaded.

"That depends on the situation! If they haven’t violated any national laws, then everything is easy to discuss. But if they have truly broken the law, then a re-evaluation will be necessary," Qin Jian replied swiftly, pulling An Hao aside before whispering, "Let’s not discuss this now. What about Yan Ye and Dr. Lu? How are they?"

"You didn’t see them?" An Hao asked puzzled.

"No."

"You’re lucky you didn’t," An Hao said with a hint of relief. "Along the way, Mu Qiankun planted quite a lot of explosives. If you had encountered Yan Ye, you might have ended up following the same route we took. And perhaps, you might’ve gotten injured by those explosives."

"It seems Mu Qiankun truly can’t be underestimated."

"Mm. He’s cunning, devious, and vicious! If you come across him, you absolutely must be cautious!"

"Don’t worry. He’s not my match!" Qin Jian raised his hand to brush An Hao’s long hair and then told her, "Stay in a safe place nearby for the time being. Once I’ve dealt with those two drug traffickers, we’ll head down the mountain together."

"I want to go with you!"

"It’s too dangerous. I can’t take you along for the risk. Wait here—I’ll be back soon! Be good!"

"Fine," An Hao reluctantly agreed.

Qin Jian turned back to the bushes to retrieve his gun.

Under the circumstances earlier, he could’ve easily dealt with the rat using a gun. But when he saw that scene, his emotions had overwhelmed him.

Sometimes, killing with a cold weapon—watching the blood gush out—could cleanse the hatred and anger inside.

So, he chose the latter.

"Be careful, then. I’ll wait for you here! Come back quickly!" An Hao reminded him several times until Qin Jian’s figure disappeared. Only then did she squat down and approach Mu Mian.
