Chapter 1671 - 1672: Suspicious Attitude
"Of course, there’s no problem," Qin Jian agreed, "But before that, can you tell me, what kind of difficult situation did you encounter today?"
Mu Mian’s behavior was indeed very strange.
Since the day he was rescued and started living in Mu Mian’s home, he had distinctly felt that there must be some issue between her and her father.
"You and Mu Mian go upstairs to talk," An Hao stood by Qin Jian’s side and gently nudged him.
"Alright," Qin Jian got up and gestured for Mu Mian to follow him.
Mu Mian hesitated for a moment but still followed him upstairs.
Apart from the bedrooms, there were two other rooms upstairs; Qin Jian opened one of them—the study—and entered.
Mu Mian followed behind him uncomfortably into the study.
"Please have a seat!" Qin Jian motioned Mu Mian to sit on a stool and poured her a glass of water from the thermos, handing it to her, "Tell me about your situation, will you?"
"It’s really okay, Brother Qin, I just want you to take me to Lin Sheng."
Facing Mu Mian’s reluctance to be candid, Qin Jian’s firm eyebrows gradually furrowed together.
At this moment, An Hao entered the room.
She had just heard their conversation, glanced at Mu Mian, then said to Qin Jian: "I’ll tell you what happened today."
An Hao recounted the events she encountered that morning in full detail to Qin Jian.
After listening, Qin Jian once again inquired: "Mu Mian, since you trust soldiers, you should trust me too, right? If you hadn’t met An Hao today, have you thought about what could have happened?"
Mu Mian remained silent with her head lowered.
An Hao let out a soft sigh, sat beside her, and gently took Mu Mian’s hand: "Is it that your father is mistreating you?"
Mu Mian shook her head.
But soon, she nodded.
Seeing her condition, Qin Jian knew he wouldn’t get any more information.
If he could, this girl wouldn’t be remaining so tightly lipped.
It seemed that the root of the problem lay with her father.
Qin Jian thought for a moment and speculated that perhaps a breakthrough could be found through Lin Sheng.
So he no longer continued with his questions, but instead said to Mu Mian: "In that case, I will take you to find Lin Sheng."
"That’s wonderful, thank you Brother Qin," Mu Mian put down the water glass, looked at him carefully, and asked, "Can I go find him right now?"
"Sure!" Qin Jian agreed.
"Why not have dinner before you go? You’re not in a rush. Besides, Lin Sheng won’t be leaving the military camp, will he?" An Hao tried to persuade the girl to stay for dinner.
But Mu Mian was determined to leave.
In such an environment, she felt extremely uncomfortable.
"If Mu Mian is not willing, let it be," Qin Jian could understand Mu Mian’s current mood and state.
After all, she had been living alone in the mountains.
Having just come out of the mountains and suddenly encountering so many things, she must be feeling nervous and out of her element.
"Then you should take her. Ensure she is well set up. Seeing those people today, they didn’t seem to bear good intentions. To avoid trouble for her in the future, could you let her stay at your hospitality house for a while?" An Hao asked.
"Don’t worry. I will arrange everything," Qin Jian said, and then his gaze shifted back to Mu Mian, and he said in a low voice, "But these methods are only temporary solutions. If possible, I really hope you can tell the truth. So we can truly help you!"
