"Was it Zhiyuan who deliberately didn’t save you?" An Hao asked bluntly.
"How did you find out?" Qin Jian exclaimed in surprise.
"The child you saved told me he heard your argument. And, he said that the news of your death made all the warriors in the battalion very sad. Only Zhiyuan was seen sneaking smiles from time to time. He believes it must have been him who killed you." Sometimes, children are better at reading between the lines than adults.
"And you? Do you think so too?"
"Yes. This Zhiyuan doesn’t get along well with our family at all. Plus, considering the incident of your promotion in the troops, I suspect he’s deeply involved." An Hao clenched her fists tightly, speaking angrily.
"Empty talk is no proof, evidence is needed," Qin Jian said.
"Don’t worry. I will find the evidence. I can’t tolerate such a scourge in the troops for a single day!" An Hao ground her teeth with a grating sound.
"You’re right," Qin Jian began slowly, his tone mixed with indignation and a chill, "My fall into the ravine wasn’t an accident but an inevitability. If someone wants to harm you, truly, there is no escape! When I was hanging off the cliff, Zhiyuan reached out both hands to me. I thought by giving my hand to a brother I would be saved, but it turned out to be the exact opposite."
When Zhiyuan’s hands gripped his wrist, Qin Jian had a bad premonition.
What did such an action signify?
It signified that if one let go, the other would fall without a struggle.
