Seeing An Hao and Zhang Guifang chatting so amicably, a fierce anger ignited within her.
Just as she was considering how to vent the frustrations of the other day, she heard An Hao say to Zhang Guifang, "The fish soup must be almost ready, bring over the enamel basin!"
"Okay," Zhang Guifang was about to get an enamel basin from the cupboard, but Xin Ni rushed to get it first.
"Sister-in-law, let me do it. I’ll help out too." After saying this, she swiftly fetched the enamel basin and, turning around, walked over to An Hao.
Just as she was about to reach her, Xin Ni had a thought and pretended to trip, flinging herself towards An Hao!
"An Hao, be careful!" Zhang Guifang’s face went pale at the sight, frightened by the thought of the consequences if An Hao was pushed over—the fish soup was still simmering on the stove.
An Hao, hearing Zhang Guifang call out to her, jerked her head around to see Xin Ni plunging towards her.
An Hao was startled and quickly dodged to the side.
Xin Ni had intended to pretend to fall, to push An Hao and cause her to spill the fish soup and get a good scalding.
But Zhang Guifang called out so quickly, and she hadn’t expected An Hao to react so swiftly and dodge upon hearing the shout.
Her plot had not succeeded, and as she tried to stop herself in time, she realized it was too late.
