Chapter 1536: Confirmation
Lonos spell was canceled thanks to the shock and the pain that he suffered... everyone felt shivers followed by a huge relief. They didn’t know what had happened, but they could tell that they escaped a certain death. When they saw Lonos’ shocked expression, they were able to tell that they had been saved...
"What happened?"
"I was attacked, I don’t know how or by whom, but I was attacked, apparently. This sensation felt familiar... but it couldn’t have been him."
Lonos’s mind worked with the impact of the information. Despite his vast powers and unfathomable knowledge, he couldn’t shake the feeling that Rain had actually attacked him. At that moment, he couldn’t confirm or deny the reality of Rain’s death.
No amount of regeneration or manipulation of mana could undo what had been done. Rain was gone, reduced to nothing more than a pile of dust scattered upon the ground. No sense of consciousness or will remained, and no trace of his spirit lingered in the ether. He had truly ceased to exist in any meaningful sense of the word.
Lonos considered this time and time again, his thoughts racing as he contemplated the implications of Rain’s possible actions...
"Even if he managed to fool me somehow, my technique should have reseted his spirit as well... he was supposed to have lost all of his abilities. Deal with things here... I am going to check something."
Lonos disappeared once again, and that left everyone confused. Without wasting time, Fortus began to spin again and Lonos returned to the origin planet. He also appeared right above the dust pile that Rain’s body has become... nothing had changed and his confusion only grew further.
"The only thing that would explain this was the possibility of him using a body double to escape from my attack, but I didn’t lose any sight of him during the fight."
Lonos checked the area for anything out of the norm in terms of energy, but he found nothing... he also didn’t feel anything when he was attacked... His eyes could see the future, but at that moment, he didn’t see the attack coming.
Nothing was supposed to escape his Foresight; everything was supposed to happen to him. He could see it at least ten seconds before it happened. Even now, Lonos couldn’t see anything off regarding his future, but Fortus’ future looked clouded...
