One Click Billionaire

Chapter 11

Adam stood on the balcony. He looked down at Mrs. Gold pulling weeds in her garden. He had a plan. He would pay his rent. He would take care of his biggest worry right now. That way he would not have to think about it in the future. He could focus on bigger things.

He had two and a half million dollars. The thought was still staggering. The money made him a millionaire. He could buy a small company right now. He could buy a few shares of a big one. He had options he had never dreamed of before.

He carefully took his phone from his pocket. He looked at it. It was more precious than his own life now. He did not want anyone to find out about his mobile phone. He especially did not want anyone to find out about the One-Click Billionaire app. He held it tightly. He made sure it was secure in his pocket before he turned to go back inside.

Adam went downstairs. He walked out the front door of the building. Mr. Gold and Mrs. Gold were both outside in the front yard. Mrs. Gold was cleaning the small garden area. She was attacking the weeds with a metal rake.

Mr. Gold was helping his wife. He was gathering the pulled weeds into a small pile. Mr. Gold was a kind man at heart. But his wife Mrs. Gold was very serious when it came to money. She did not let her feelings interfere with her finances. That was why their financial condition was so good. Mrs. Gold handled all the money.

Mr. Gold was a retired government officer. He had worked for the city for thirty years. Now he was retired. Their children studied in a different country. They sometimes came to visit for holidays. Adam had been living here for the past six months. He had not met Mr. and Mrs. Gold’s children yet.

As soon as Mrs. Gold saw Adam her expression soured. She stopped her work. She leaned on her rake and looked at him. Her eyes were sharp and critical. "You didn’t go to work today?" she asked. Her voice was an accusation.

Adam smiled a calm smile. "Actually I quit my job," he said.

Mrs. Gold’s face showed immediate shock. Her eyes widened. Her hand tightened on the handle of her rake. The knuckles turned white. She walked toward Adam. She stopped just a few feet from him. "You know how this world works don’t you?" she said. Her voice was low and dangerous. "I think you know better than anyone."

Adam took a small step back. He did not want to be too close to that rake. "Yes I know," he said.
