Chapter 39: Good nights
The image of the goddess disappeared, leaving only the god of time.
"The goddess is sensitive about that topic, don’t take it the wrong way, child... but since she’s lost her head, she couldn’t really tell you why we’re here... gods can’t interfere with mortals more than necessary, so we insert small parts of our power without anyone noticing... Soulneth loves to spy, you could say she’s a voyeur, and I’m the only one who can satisfy her desires by showing her all the beings in the river of time... good luck on your journey, give us a little more fun."
The two disappeared, leaving more questions than answers. Even though the damage I received wasn’t physical, I could still feel the binds of those vines on my body and all the pain in my veins. I took a few deep breaths to calm myself; this had been a truly dangerous experience.
The skill screen was open, displaying a large list of special guild abilities... unfortunately, there weren’t many options since our guild was barely level 1.
I had 6 guild points, 5 elementless cores that could be used as substitute material, and one earth core. The best option was:
[Intruder Detection System]
A system that surrounds the guild’s perimeter, alerting guild leaders about possible invasions.
It cost 6 points and 1 core of any element. I used the goblin core, saving the remaining 5 cores for potential future emergencies.
I removed my hand from the pillar and watched a translucent wave emanate from it. After a few seconds, a notification appeared in my status window.
[Detection System deployed]
