Banished Hero: I just want to live in peace on a deserted island

Chapter 10: Transformation Plan

The bluish, transparent screen appeared in front of me, as always.

I opened the Skills tab, scrolling through all the options. I still had 300 points left. Like an old gamer, I knew the importance of saving points for an emergency. I’d only unlocked the essentials, the ones that had pulled me out of jams where I thought I’d die: Sacred Rejuvenation, Leadership, Battle Cry, Mortal Strike, One and Two-Handed Bludgeon Mastery, Cutting Weapon Mastery, Spear Mastery, Bow Mastery, among others.

In this world, you could form parties or hunting groups, but it wasn’t like video games where experience was divided equally, no. Here, each person received experience based on the damage they’d dealt. Plus, there was a bonus for the last hit, which came with a restriction: the one who landed the final blow had to have dealt at least fifteen percent of the total damage to the creature; otherwise, no bonus. The king said the goddess of light had set that rule to prevent people from stealing kills, but to me, it sounded more like a load of crap to stop you from PLVLing and boosting rookies.

Among all the skills, one had stuck in my mind. As soon as I saw it, I felt the urge to unlock it, but, because of the attitude of my companions, I decided not to use it and let them fucking rot.

* [Hero’s Sacrifice]: A support-type skill that allows you to create a protective shield to absorb damage dealt to your allies within the party or Guild members within a 500-meter radius. As long as I didn’t die, my entire group would be immortal, but in return, I would receive 15% increased damage.
