Chapter 22: Speechless
Leng Yichen had a faintly dark line on his face. He had only mentioned wanting to eat fish, who knew Bai Yiran would make so much fish for him. However, looking at these fish, Leng Yichen felt a soft warmth in his heart, and the corners of his mouth curved up into an indiscernible smile.
Hearing Bai Yiran say how tiring it was to make the fish, he felt a little guilty and took a small box out of his pocket, handing it over to Bai Yiran with a syrupy sweet tone, "Thank you for your hard work."
Bai Yiran took the box and opened it, revealing a beautiful diamond necklace, with a small diamond fairy pendant. Leng Yichen had seen this necklace in a shop window on his way back and bought it right away, as it reminded him of Bai Yiran. This was the first time Leng Yichen had bought something with someone specific in mind, a feeling both novel and delightful.
At first glance, the necklace was obviously not cheap, and Bai Yiran’s instinct was to return it to Leng Yichen. Leng Yichen, anticipating her reaction, immediately said, "We are husband and wife, and this necklace is bought for my wife."
With Leng Yichen putting it that way, Bai Yiran could say no more, holding the necklace with uncertainty about what to do next. Leng Yichen removed the necklace, walked to behind Bai Yiran, "Let me put it on for you."
Bai Yiran could feel Leng Yichen’s warm breath on her neck, a teasing warmth that made her feel strange.
Leng Yichen skillfully put the necklace on Bai Yiran, then stepped in front of her, admiring her like a piece of art, "Not bad! It suits you very well!"
Bai Yiran looked at the little fairy and said shyly, "Thank you."
"No need to thank me."
"However, judging by how deftly you put the necklace on, it’s definitely not your first time doing this for a woman, is it?" Bai Yiran straightforwardly exposed Leng Yichen’s experienced demeanor.
Leng Yichen paused, blinking, "Uh... I’m going to wash my hands and get ready for dinner!"
