Chapter 1: Driven Out of the House
Bai Yiran held her mother Cheng Ting’s portrait and looked at the four people in the living room. Closest to her was her biological father, Bai Hongguang. Behind him stood a glamorous, flamboyant woman, smiling, though to Bai Yiran, that smile was blindingly offensive.
The woman was holding the hands of two children, one boy and one girl. Bai Yiran thought these two children should be about her age.
"Dad, who are they?" Bai Yiran instinctively felt no goodwill towards these three people.
Bai Hongguang squatted down in front of Bai Yiran, his eyes full of excitement. "Yiran, this is Aunt Gu, Gu Manli. She will be your new mom from now on." Then he pointed to the two children, "They are Bai Qianyu and Bai Qiantong, your sister and brother. You will be the big sister, Qianyu will be the second sister, and Qiantong the little brother. Yiran, you must take care of your brother and sister!"
"What about my mom?" Bai Yiran raised the black-and-white photo of Cheng Ting in her arms. Her mother just left this world, and her father couldn’t wait to bring this woman and their illegitimate children home.
Although Bai Yiran was still young, she knew her mother and she herself were about to be abandoned by Bai Hongguang.
