Chapter 23 Are You Unsatisfied?
So Samuel Grant could only remove the obstruction in his mouth and make one last feeble attempt: "Uncle, can we talk alone, without an outsider present, it would be better..."
William Foster said flatly, "Clara is not an outsider; she is your future aunt. Say what you have to say. If you can’t, don’t waste my time."
Samuel Grant was filled with resentment towards William Foster, wishing he could kill him but still bit the bullet and spoke up: "I’m here to borrow money from you, uncle."
William Foster asked, "How much?"
Samuel Grant had long known he would inevitably be humiliated tonight and closed his eyes helplessly: "Two billion."
William Foster’s eyes narrowed slightly, having already guessed that Samuel’s debts had doubled, but still pretended not to know, asking with furrowed brows, "Two billion? Wasn’t it ten billion before?"
Samuel Grant gritted his teeth and didn’t speak for a moment.
Clara Bennett interjected, "He’s asking you, why are you mute? What do you need so much money for? It should be made clear."
Samuel Grant felt as if his heart was being cut, his teeth grinding with a creak, but he still held back his grievance and said, "The original ten billion was for Miss Bennett as a breakup fee. The extra ten billion is a wedding gift to celebrate my uncle and auntie’s marriage."
William Foster seemed somewhat shocked after hearing this, "You’re really dutiful, borrowing money to congratulate our wedding. Isn’t a gift of ten billion a bit too much?"
"How could it be too much?"
Clara Bennett responded deliberately with a smile, her smile gentle, "It’s his sentiment, you should accept it. This money can count as my dowry, is it too little? My family prepared twenty billion for me."
