Chapter 1425 - 1426: Narrow Escape (Part 3)
"Tian Tian, the doctor said you have to get a good rest!"
Already at her breaking point, Mu Tiantian felt anger shoot straight up in her chest, but the moment she heard Bai Chenyao, that doctor, call out that low, slightly helpless yet full-of-heartache "Tian Tian," her heart, which had almost withered, seemed to be gently cradled all of a sudden.
Delicate, gentle, endlessly full of tenderness.
The expression on Mu Tiantian’s face was incredibly awkward.
Watching her clearly burning with rage, yet because of that one sentence from him, turning all awkward and adorably pouty, a faint smile appeared on Bai Chenyao’s handsome, cold face.
"When you’re better, we’ll talk slowly. We’ve got a whole lifetime ahead of us; it’s long."
Mu Tiantian: "..."
If Bai Chenyao had said something like that earlier, would she have felt so wronged and so unwilling to accept it?
Like every little woman, Mu Tiantian snuck a slightly awkward glance at Bai Chenyao, then obediently hummed in reply.
After venting her little mood, Mu Tiantian suddenly remembered what had happened before.
"A Yao, how are things over in Qi Mountain? Oh right, that road—"
Bai Chenyao held her hand, slowly playing with her fingers that used to be white and tender and smooth but now were a little rough.
"It’s all over."
Mu Tiantian: "..."
What was that supposed to mean?
"Rest well. I’ll go next door to check on Li Mu."
Mu Tiantian jolted, staring wide-eyed at Bai Chenyao.
"Li Mu’s hurt too?"
Bai Chenyao nodded, his voice calm.
"He took two bullets. He’s just out of immediate danger."
Mu Tiantian: "..."
Her face, already pale, turned even whiter, like paper.
Mu Tiantian had been to that stretch of primeval forest in Qi Mountain, so of course she knew how dangerous it was inside.
And the place she’d gone to wasn’t even on the same level of danger as where Bai Chenyao and Li Mu had gone.
"What about Xiao Lei, is she here?"
Seeing Bai Chenyao nod, Mu Tiantian let out a breath of relief.
"Then you should hurry over. I’m going to sleep for a bit."
She also felt so much pain, so much that she couldn’t sleep at all.
Bai Chenyao glanced at her. "The doctor will come by to check on you in a while. I’ll be right back."
Mu Tiantian couldn’t help but smile and nodded at Bai Chenyao.
Just as Bai Chenyao was about to leave, Mu Tiantian suddenly thought of Shen Tiancheng.
"A Yao, what about Shen Tiancheng? Has he come back?"
The look on Bai Chenyao’s handsome, icy face turned especially cold and heavy.
"No idea."
Under Mu Tiantian’s stunned gaze, Bai Chenyao quickly walked out of the ward.
Mu Tiantian: "..."
Watching Bai Chenyao’s tall figure disappear through the door of the ward, Mu Tiantian was dazed for a moment.
Only after quite a while did she murmur under her breath.
"I was just... asking, that’s all."
But Bai Chenyao seemed really displeased.
Mu Tiantian’s mood was a bit complicated.
When she caught sight of her leg in a cast, Mu Tiantian’s thoughts quickly shifted back to herself.
Only then did she notice that right now she was wrapped up like a zongzi, even with bandages on the left side of her face.
No wonder her face burned with pain. She suddenly remembered that roll she’d taken on the ground; a huge rock had come tumbling right after her. She’d dodged a fatal hit, and then felt that sharp pain slice across her cheek.
Will... will I be disfigured?
Lying in the hospital bed, completely unable to move, Mu Tiantian couldn’t sleep at all because her whole body hurt.
Right now she was the only one in the ward, and it felt very quiet.
After a short while, she heard steady footsteps approaching.
Very quickly, the door to the ward was pushed open, and a doctor in a white coat walked in.
When she saw that the doctor was Cheng Junhua, Mu Tiantian paused slightly.
