Chapter 1415 - 1416: Fierce Battle 3
Not only were the two men on guard duty slacking off, but even the guy in the observation room was gulping down alcohol and devouring meat.
A message from above arrived nearly a month ago, but Bai Chenyao—hell, not even a fly has flown in here, leaving this bunch clueless and long out of patience.
They haven’t even been able to go home for the new year. For those who aren’t married, that’s one thing, but they can’t even find a woman around here, building up a bellyful of frustration.
They reckon the info from above is inaccurate, or maybe Bai Chenyao did come over, but he’s probably long dead, devoured by those beasts.
Starting over ten days ago, their guard duty wasn’t as strict as it was initially; they’re merely putting on a show due to orders from above.
After all, the Boss isn’t actually here, having them guard this area is simply a ploy to attract Bai Chenyao and finish him off.
As for how to finish him off, this group is pretty clueless.
The observation room door suddenly swung open, and a young man in his early twenties walked in, bundled up in a thick coat but still shivering.
"Hey Uncle Lao Jin, you’re quite the carefree one!"
The man called Old Jin chuckled softly, glancing at the young guy.
"Wait until you’re my age, working in the gang for years, then you can be as carefree as me!"
The young man chuckled, quickly sat across from Old Jin, reached for the plate, grabbed a chicken leg, and asked Old Jin while eating.
"Uncle Lao Jin, we’ve been here guarding for almost a month now, but still haven’t seen the contact person. Could something have gone wrong?"
"What could go wrong?"
Old Jin glanced at the young man munching on the chicken leg, a hint of disdain in his eyes.
The young man listened, awkwardly smiled, and hurriedly added.
"Yes, yes, the Boss is always very cautious; nothing could have gone wrong."
Old Jin snorted, drained his glass of liquor, and the young man instinctively got up to fill it up.
Old Jin gave her another glance, his face showing a somewhat satisfied smile.
"You young one... Although you haven’t been here long, you’re quite diligent, your mind is sharp; stick with the Boss, you’re still young, there’s plenty of chances for you to eat and drink well in the future!"
The young man’s earlier awkward expression instantly turned into a beaming smile.
"A greenhorn like me won’t get to see the Boss, but now that I’m here, I just follow Uncle Lao Jin, and I can eat and drink well here too!"
Such blunt flattery, but who doesn’t like hearing it?
Especially Old Jin, who has worked under Thunder Eagle for so many years; in many people’s eyes, he’s just a dog by Thunder Eagle’s side, summoned at will.
Having a young guy speak so highly of him brought a bit of a smile to his previously disdainful expression.
"Alright, kid, just for those words, Uncle Lao Jin will drink a cup with you!"
The young man, seeing no glasses available, simply grabbed a big bowl from the side, poured a bowl for himself, then poured one for Old Jin as well.
"Uncle Lao Jin, I toast to you! Although I’m nothing now, just like you said, I’m still young. If I work hard, things will definitely get better, and I’ll surely repay you then!"
Old Jin burst out laughing, couldn’t be bothered with glasses, and lifted the big bowl the young man poured for him, gulping it down.
