Chapter 14- Breaking a Kind man
"STOP...!"
Without a second breath, her voice echoed as she slammed the door open with the edge of her shoulder, the wooden frame cracking slightly from the force, startling the nurses nearby—but Arvia didn’t care.
"Ughh... Satt— Dad...!" She dashed into the room, her breath caught between a scream and a cry, and without hesitation, she yanked the man back with a force that neither came from her fragile body nor her bleeding legs—but something far deeper.
Adrenaline.
Her adrenaline levels surged as she panicked, shocked, and at the same time felt her protective urge arise. All of the emotions surged from her mind, which had fallen into a trance not understanding a thing but just moving on instinct.
"Huh... Arvia—!—THUD" The man lost balance, his grip slipping, and he fell backward, his head hitting the edge of the side table with a dull thud before collapsing beside the bed, gasping heavily, eyes filled with dazed confusion, like someone pulled from a nightmare too soon.
His mind was completely filled with confusion, with only rage and a past memory dominating everything, as if he had been put in a state where his own ego had been altered.
Arvia’s hands trembled as she threw the pillow across the floor, dropping to her knees beside the bed—Satteus’s face was pale and his lips parted, unmoving.
"No, no, no, no..." her breath quickened, panic like fire in her chest as she placed both palms on his cheeks and then instantly pressed her head down, resting her ear over the center of his chest.
Silence.
Then—thump... thump...
